About
Hamed Abbasipour (b. 1990, Tehran, Iran) is a contemporary mirror artist based in Muscat. His practice reinterprets the historic Persian tradition of mirror work through a contemporary visual language, positioning reflection not as decoration, but as a medium for perception, presence, and transformation.
Introduced to mirror craftsmanship at an early age while assisting his father on architectural installations, Abbasipour developed both a technical foundation and a conceptual sensitivity to the material. His works are constructed through meticulous hand-cutting and assembly of mirrored fragments, forming geometric and abstract compositions that respond to light, space, and viewer movement.
Central to his practice is the idea of the mirror as an active surface—one that destabilizes fixed imagery and produces shifting visual experiences. Each work exists in a state of flux, completed only through the presence of the viewer.
By bridging traditional craft and contemporary art, Abbasipour expands mirror work beyond its ornamental origins, situating it within a broader discourse of perception, identity, and spatial experience.
His work has been presented in exhibitions and projects across Oman and the Gulf region, including the Interior Design & Furniture Exhibition (IDF) Oman and the Qatar International Art Festival.
